RSS recommendations?

Hey,

which RSS App would you recommend me? If possible Security and Privacy focused and not from Play Store.

I only know Read You and Capy Reader, but I'm not sure, if there is better one.

Dumdum I tried getting it from Obtainium which went to the same link you provided. However, the App Verifier says Internal Database Status: Failure

When I pasted the Verification Info from my clipboard, it said Verification Status: Success

Tried searching for it in the forum but couldn't find one that was specifically about Internal Database Status: Failure

Feeders apk is now 111MB in size. I wonder what they are doing, seems excessive for a simple RSS reader. Also, they seem to push into the AI direction because they started integrating APIs for using AI with Feeder. Read You needs a better UI in my opinion. Any experience with FeedFlow or Nunti here? I would like to use something simple, clean, and safe.

that's strange. The release right before the latest was 33.8MB but the latest one is indeed 111MB. Changelog doesn't seem to justify such a change either. I'd assume it's an issue of some kind with the latest release.

DeletedUser88 I just had a look at the APKs and it adds libjnidispatch.so and libnostr_sdk_ffi.so for all supported architectures. This is for added Nostr feed support, see https://github.com/spacecowboy/Feeder/pull/471

There are 2 builds: one for F-Droid and one for Play Store.

The one in App Verifier is the Play Store version. So if you downloaded the F-Droid one, it will not match.

This is why. The internal database is based on the Fdroid version.

What Verification Info? And from where?

Probably9857 The one in App Verifier is the Play Store version. So if you downloaded the F-Droid one, it will not match.

Other way around actually.

You can click on the "Failed" text to see a popup with more info...maybe that will help.

For Play Store, I have heard that Google also signs the .apk, so that might be the problem, but I'm not sure exactly how that works.

I just tested both and got success in both.

Turns out they have different app IDs (play version ends in .play). I currently have both installed side-by-side. Both success in App Verifier

So, you're copying the Verification Info from the installed apk, and then verifying that info on the same apk? That's not how you're supposed to verify.

I'm suspect an unknown number of users actually do this, the app UI isn't doing much to prevent this.

Probably9857 did you try by taking them from github? I did that and the Play got Failure, both installed.

As in, the Internal Database Status shows Success?
Because I've just installed the Play Store version, and it shows Failure while the Fdroid shows Success just like Novalissoide.

Seems that while the two versions share the same signing key, the App Verifier database still bases Feeder on the Fdroid appID.
