SMS/MMS App: Preview of message content says "new message"

With the default GOS SMS/MMS app I would like to see the message content of a SMS/MMS in the message preview. However, even in unlocked mode I see "New message" as both title and content. Only when I open the message I can read the content.
I feel I have tried all the settings to get it to work that I see the message content in the preview but nothing worked so far. Have you managed to see the message content in the preview or is this not supported? I could not find anything in the forum.

dokmaistr As the other user noted it is due to being in a secondary profile and it's a limitation of Android in general, regardless which sms app you use.

I was seeing the same thing, but figured out is because I was using the messaging app in another profile. When I had to reboot I noticed that in the owner profile everything worked as expected (seeing smss text previews in the notifications). I am now doing everything in the Owner profile and most/(all?) the annoying problems I was having have gone away, including some notification issues for apps that were not working in an alternate profile.

I also noticed too that another SMS (FOSS Messages app) app does not provide notifications at all in a secondary profile while it works on the owner profile. So again, same behavior as you described.

Other issues I was running into was the inability to set user specific notifications and I wasn't able to change the default SMS notification sound away from the default notification sound. Other sms apps had problems, but they weren't necessarily consistent with the stock SMS app. I wiped my phone and started over mainly using the Owner profile and virtually all my issues have gone away. I may use other profiles for specific use cases (e.g. financial/banking), but will spent most of my time in the Owner profile.

bbkjbbkj thanks again for your insights. For the moment I will stay with my setup using the owner profile to download and distribute apps to secondary profiles. But I will keep it in mind that the owner profile has its advantages.

Today I noticed that SMS/text message content is available as a preview in the secondary profile 😍 With private space for secondary profiles and now this as well for secondary profiles - wow... Many thanks GOS teaml!!

Could you elaborate on this? My current setup is like yours, I think. 3 Profiles (Owner app pusher, Everyday Use, and Google). I'm using Google Messages (Anonymously) in my Everyday profile because I like the enhanced features.

I only ever see "New message" in my Everyday profile, but I wish it showed the sender and message preview. Is there a setting I need to change? You mentioned using Private Space, but I haven't messed with that yet and don't fully understand it.

RotaryRoger Well, i am not sure if it was temporarily there or I was confused and was actually in the owner profile (which does not make sense since I am only there to update apps). However, I am also not seeing any message preview any more. So state as before with just "New message". Sorry for the confusion.

dokmaistr Wow, thanks for replying so quickly. Ah well, this isn't really a deal breaker for me, but I HAVE been toying with the idea of just using 2 profiles (Owner[for everyday use] and Google) as the other user does above... which would appear to alleviate this small annoyance. Cheers.
