Hi, all
I'm hoping this has an easy answer from someone. I have dug through the docs and asked elsewhere but I haven't received a straight answer.

I understand that the Google Services Compatibility layer functions the same as a standard application - no funky, deep-rooted permissions that can't be turned off. This is all awesome and one of the shining features of GrapheneOS.

But... what does that mean for privacy or anonymity? If my threat model was to NOT have Google servers know my device details, would this break that? Does the sandboxed Google Play service need to send the device details up to Google's server to function correctly, effectively giving up my anonymity?

I'm trying to understand what is given up to as I was thinking of installing them to allow two particular banking apps to function (currently installed on another device, using another OS).

Cheers.
