This will be a cable related issue. Either the cable is out of spec/standard, if it is the stock cable it may be either damaged or the issue is the port you are using. Most of the issues are covered in the documentation on the site.
You are best to try another cable or A-C cable if your USB C port on the desktop/laptop you are using isn't functioning with the stock cable. If doing so brands like Anker, Aukey and Belkin are known standard compliant cables.
The other and BEST option is to use the stock cable with another Android device with the minimum RAM as outlined on the installer page.
