Granting access during do-not-disturb

Hey there! I'm new to Graphene OS and just installed it on my Pixel 8a. Now I need to install the Dexcom G6 app to connect with my medical glucose monitoring system. I have downloaded the app via the PlayStore (it wasn't available on Aurora) in the sandboxed profile.

Now during setup of the app, it requires permissions to ignore do-not-disturb mode so it can send emergency notifications. I have granted it everything I could via Notifications -> Do not disturb -> Apps and in the app's own notification settings, but it still says a permission is needed and leads me to Apps -> special app access -> access during do-not-disturb, where I cannot edit anything and the app is not shown. How can I grant this permission?

I read somewhere that one sometimes needs to allow restricted access to certain apps via the three dots menu, but that one is also not present on the app's settings screen.

It seems like other people have already successfully installed the app (here), so there must be a way. Does anyone have an idea? Thank you!

If you're using a secondary profile, not owner, it looks like there might be what's likely an upstream bug that's causing that option not to show up. You can try installing the app in the owner profile, use the app so it asks for that permission, then finally allow it to access restricted settings. After you've done that, the option should show up in the secondary user.

I haven't tried this on my phone, so I'm not sure if you can remove the app from the owner profile afterwards. I would imagine you can.

Not sure what the issue could be if you're already trying to do this in the owner profile.

If you are trying to use it in a secondary profile, you might try it in the owner.

This kind of app probably should be in owner anyway, since it seems important not to miss notifications if the secondary profile isn't running (after a reboot, for example).

I had that issue with restricted settings not showing up and I closed and reopened settings like five times and then the option was there

Thank you for your answers. The problem was probably that I had installed the app in the confidential profile to isolate it as a Google app (from Android 15, https://www.kuketz-blog.de/android-15-vertrauliches-profil-unter-grapheneos-optimal-nutzen/). I then installed it again in the (open) owner profile and the app ran normally there.
