Small correction - PS is available in non-owner since May'25 I think
btw, the list is no longer about Android 15, but A16 now.
Specifics of Private space:
- doesn't have access to phone and sms (fin apps may fail if they depend on it)
* exists only in Owner profile
- can share clipboard with host user profile if configured (it can be useful if you need to copy-paste single-use CC number from Revolut, for example)
Specifics of non-owner user profiles:
- can't install tools like Termux
- can't configure some of system-wide settings like private DNS (can do it for apps that allow it, like Vanadium etc), though pDNS is not recommended if you use VPN as system behaves unexpectedly re leaks
- can't enable hotspot (only owner can)
- can't disable/enable internet, it's only wifi and airplane mode that can be turned on/off
- can't enable internet tethering (usb/eth/bt)
* can't start desktop mode, unless it was started in Owner, so have to switch to owner and then back. Others have reported it works for them without the switch
- (UPD) profile and app need to be active for Alarms ring regardless of the current profile; timers don't work
- (UPD) Alarms have to be setup only in owner for them to work reliably, as they will not ring in non-owner until it's unlocked upon device restart
Specific of switching between profiles:
- paired BT devices are shared across user profiles and are automatically re-connected when you switch to another profile
- apps from non-sleeping non-active profile that use paired Bluetooth devices can't access connected devices, thus:
** if to use separate user profile, media playback will stop if one has switched to lets say "finance profile"
** (UPD) upon switching profiles, connected Bluetooth devices are disconnected so you can't be on a call while switching or listen to music
** (new) if one uses fitness-tracker, it's required to setup accompanying app in all actively used profiles in order to receive notifications from current and other profiles
* only 3 profiles can be active at the same time (apps not frozen) now it depends on RAM I think
- tethering that was enabled in Owner profile gets disabled once one switches to another profile
- If you switch between profiles, you are probably (not all users report it) forced to unlock with PIN/Password instead of your fingerprint, which can be a problem if you in public places with strangers/CCTV and therefore don't want to enter your password.
