Suggestions for getting data off a broken phone?

My Pixel 7’s screen got destroyed in an accident recently. It’s still turns on, but the screen is shattered and unusable. I thought I had USB debugging enabled, but nothing popped up when I plugged it in to my computer. I did manage to get a replacement phone, but I’d really like my old stuff back. I’m also kind of wondering if it’s feasible to eventually repair it myself and keep it as a back up . I’m not sure if that would work for me, but I’d like my data either way.

Do you have any suggestions for getting my old stuff off? thank you guys for reading this.

StupidBench the only option to get to your data is to be able to unlock the phone and give it permission to allow data transfer via USB. Since you need a somewhat working screen for that, your only option is to (at least temporarily) have it repaired. If you don't care that much about the screen quality, you can go for an aftermarket screen, which WILL be worse than the pretty expensive OEM part but good enough for data recovery and as a general backup solution.

StupidBench If you have the USB-C port setting in Settings > Security & privacy > Exploit protection > USB-C port set to either "On" or "Charging-only when locked, except before first unlock", you should be able to insert a keyboard and mouse to the phone and unlock it. The only way to ascertain this for sure is to just try plugging in a keyboard and/or mouse and see if they work from the lockscreen. If they don't, I think that a screen replacement is the only option to be able to unlock the phone again (granted that the repair shop does not factory-reset the device during the repair, but I'm not sure why they'd do that when performing a screen replacement). (I'm not sure if the phone not being detected by the computer implies that a keyboard and mouse cannot be used before first unlock).

DeletedUser370 hey, thanks for the answer. I’m really hoping this is it. I bought a USB hub and a basic USB keyboard mouse combo just now. So once they get here, I’m gonna cross my fingers and hope for the best. How would you recommend using them if you Can’t see anything on the screen? Do you think I’d have any luck plugging them into HDMI or would I have to do it blindly?

I believe Pixel devices before the 8 series do not output video over USB-C.

StupidBench I didn't know that your screen was so damaged that it doesn't display anything at all. You don't have the USB-C-to-USB-A adapter that came with your phone? If you have a USB keyboard you can connect it to your phone and try to use it to unlock the phone; you don't need a mouse, strictly speaking. But if nothing displays on the screen at all, I'm afraid that sounds like a lost cause: the Pixel 7 doesn't support mirroring the display to an external monitor (without some form of wireless casting).
