I am about to get a Google Pixel 8 Pro to run with GraphenOS to improve privacy. I currently know very little about GrapheneOS.
I will want to use the Home Assistant (HA) companion app with it and there I have a question...
I read here, here, and here, that the full version of HA app requires Google Play Services to provide / use location data, which I want. And, apparently, it must be installed from Google Play Store. (There is a minimal version without location service, but I need location data.)
My question is:
What are the privacy implications of installing Google Play Services and Play Store on GrapheneOS? I am fine with installing them, as long as I can withdraw network-permissions, so that they cannot send data to Google. Is this possible?
Similarly, notifications seem to be implicated in this as well (i.e. they require the services to work in battery efficient manner), so please feel free to comment on them as well.
Thank you in advance and kind regards,
Michael
