splattergames yes indeed I dont have any actual proof of typical Android app permission control is "fake"
The reason I (kind of) believe that its "fake" , is because
I own a Google Pixel Phone.
it came with this Google song recognization function that identifies songs that are playing nearby your device (similar to Shazam)
It has two "modes"
"auto mode" and "manual mode"
basically with auto mode it kinda just listens to your surroundings all the time to pick up songs that are playing nearby, and when it recognize a song it'll show the track + artist name on my lock screen.
and manual mode is when you initiate a song search manually.
The situation is that
Although I've denied microphone access for the Google app, it'll still go on and pick up songs that're playing nearby my device.
But when I initiate a song search manually the app would told me that "mic access permission is required" in order to use the song search function, when it clearly still has mic access and still picks up songs nearby automatically.
