hi, i See this settings first time and its enable per default. How does this affect privacy? I don't have access To a Router at the Moment to test it. should i disable it on others wifi and or on my own? will a generic name be sent if I deactivate it? thank you in advance.

If you deactivate it your device name should not appear in a simple WiFi device overview. However, your MAC and IP address are still visible to network admins and/or logs. It's not really a security feature, more of a privacy tweak. With MAC randomization per connection in addition to a hidden device name it becomes more difficult to track you/your device over networks (please correct me here, if I mixed things up).

maukazius hi, i See this settings first time and its enable per default.

The release notes for GrapheneOS version 2024101800 might be relevant here:

stop enabling the new Android 15 "Send device name" toggle for Wi-Fi networks by default to continue avoiding sending the device model (default) or user configured device name as a DHCP client hostname (Alpha channel testers on our previous Android 15 releases need to toggle it off for each existing network themselves if they don't want it)

As I understand it this will be tweaked
