I have an Phone with LineageOS and a portable Router. I did read that portable Router have bad Security, which I don't liked on my portable Router too. I want to use my Sim-Card for Cellular Data outdoor. What would be the most secure way for that?

Use it in my Phone with Airplaine mode always on and just use Cellular Data if I need it?

Or should I use it in the portable Router?

I feel like it could be more secure in my Phone, since it get Updates, compared to my portable Router which got bad Security and I never saw that it did get Updates in nearly a Year. I know my Privacy is less if it is in my Phone but what would you Guys recommend me?

If the SIM or router IMEI is linked to your real identity, then you accomplish nothing by using a portable router.

If your phone's IMEI is not linked to your identity, then also the portable router adds nothing.

If the SIM and router are not tied to your identity, but the phone IMEI is, then I can see some privacy benefit to hiding the IMEI from the cellular network.

But honestly, I really don't understand why so many people are asking about portable routers. If you really need to hide your identity from the network, get a used phone or pay cash or something. Or just don't use mobile networks.

Maybe someone can enlighten me.
