Hello,
I have the black screen of death on my Pixel 5a5g. The repair store that has a relationship with Google (ubreakifix) said they're unable to work on my phone because it has a custom OS on it (graphene). So, my issue here now is - how do I flash back to stock, so that they would look at it, when I don't know if the phone is on, and also can't see the screen?
I have tried to research if it is possible to mirror my phone screen via usb OTG -> HDMI --> TV or something, but it's unclear to me if that will work. I have heard there are some apps that may let me remote into my phone, but I'm uncertain how I would set that up at this point. If it matters, I have whatever permissions that are necessary enabled for SyncThing/Synctrayzor... which I think is USB debugging or something.
The tinkering side of me wants to find a fix for this, but even if I can reflash back to stock, I'm hearing that ubreakifix/google techs will likely charge me for damage to the lcd/board... even though any falls the phone had involved it being in a thick case, and it was only a few feet. Ubreakifix quoted me $160+tax for the work. It sounds like I could just get a Pixel 6a for $200+ tax straight from Google Store.... but my concern is that the next iterations of the Pixel may be just as fragile.
Finally, I've tried using the android flash tool, but it just says my phone is unavailable / connection error.
Thoughts?
