For a less political perspective: What value and unique selling proposition does this give us?
The blockchain aspect for example is pretty dumb for me on first glance. The videos are not saved on chain which would make them censorship resistant, but also very expensive. In the end Odysee is just another centralized video platform struggling to make money (but now with a smaller and less resourceful organization and an inefficient database to work with).
I like the idea that creators get funding more directly and not ad based, but the system is flawed as there is no true value in the currency (like most crypto currencies, LBRY is just phantasy money based on trust that must collapse eventually).
Thanks to the network effect, you can't just build a second YouTube with less value (e.g. 720p max). You have to disrupt the market by doing something different and better, which this is not.
Odysee will need to find a business model, and so far it will most likely be privacy invasive with lots of data collection for ads which they seem to prepare for.
Just my two cents, let me know if I missed something crucial.
