MrSwiss Currently I am trying to use the Magic Eraser from Google Photos app on my Pixel 9 series without giving it access to internet. As expected from other threads I am required to grant it internet permission to required components with the size of 0MB as stated by the app. I do not have Google Play Services installed. When I revoke the permission it will ask for the next picture again to have internet access. For some reason when I check the data usage it always stays at absolutely 0KB. Do you see similar behavior on your device? Did you find any way to ensure that feature works offline?
billinmtl I am currently not using google photos, but when I was I had to give network permission to allow the app to download magic eraser editing tool - then revoke network, and it remained active locally on my phone.
doublefree Install Play Services (Play Store is not required), grant all three Network (GPS, GSF, Photos), edit some picture to start the download, wait, revoke Network from Photos and deactivate/uninstall Play Services. Tested on P6.
MrSwiss @doublefree I can confirm that your approach is working. After granting all 3 network permission and reseting photos app, I was able to open Photos and download Magic Eraser and 3 more additional functions. Afterwards I could simply uninstall GPS and GSF.
