I've been encountering two annyoing issues with my screens on both my old Pixel 7 Pro and my new Pixel 8, and I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced something similar or if this might be a GrapheneOS bug, or perhaps an upstream bug.
Unexplained screen dimming
For the past few months, I’ve noticed that at random intervals, the screen brightness dims, similar to what happens when you disconnect a laptop from power. However, the brightness slider still shows 100%. I can’t seem to reproduce it consistently – it just happens from time to time.
Initially, I thought it might be related to the screen replacement on my Pixel 7 Pro, suspecting dust might have gotten on the ambient light sensor. But it’s also happening on my new Pixel 8, which hasn’t undergone any screen changes. I have Auto Brightness disabled and, to test, I've also disabled Adaptive Colors and Smooth Display, but the issue persists.
This is particularly annoying for me as I prefer my display as bright as possible due to my poor eyesight. Unfortunately, GrapheneOS lacks an option to increase maximum brightness, like OneUI has.
Lock screen issue on Pixel 8
On my Pixel 8, the screen sometimes doesn't properly turn off after locking the device. Often, after locking, a blurry version of the wallpaper and part of the control center remains visible. When I tap on the screen, it goes back to the normal lock screen, but this behavior happens frequently. I'm not sure if this could be related to the Always-On Display.
Has anyone else encountered these issues?
