Xarcell Yeah but Tucker is a wordcel old man whose expertise is far outside the realm of the technical. Do you really expect him to know exactly how he, probably among the most interesting people to watch from the perspective of US intelligence and national security (not that I agree that that is justified), had his technology tools compromised? And then add the career incentives working on him into the calculation, mainly that his success is based on how much attention people pay to him. Surely you can see how claiming that a widely-believed-to-be-very-secure messaging apps is in fact not secure would benefit him.
He was using an iphone! Did you hear about Operation Triangulation? CVE-2023-38606? Kapersky "discovered" it in 2023, just one year before Tuckers interview with Putin (and I'll remind you that Tucker claims he had been trying to get the Putin interview for years). It leveraged FOUR zero-day exploits and undocumented hardware features in the iphone to gain root privileges to the device, complete control over the device, obviously including control over any apps on the device including Signal. Idk maybe Apple just forgot how to document their hardware. Or maybe it was security through obscurity. Or maybe something more sinister, who knows.
Thats just one example of how some highly motivated, well funded group can compromise ANYONE whose not taking great pains to protect their communications. Not to mention, how many national borders does Tucker cross every year? Do you think he re-uses passwords, let alone uses a password manager? I don't take anything he says about technology seriously.
