Disable GrapheneOS stock camera

Hi,

Does anyone know why its not possible to disable the stock camera app? I have recently changed to open camera to prevent dealing with a focusing issue (blurry photos) with the stock app. Now I am having issue with the double tap power key to open camera where it askes me every time if I want to open it with grapheme stock camera or open camera where the option "always open with" is only available for the stock app. This forces me to unlock the phone each time I want to take a photo which is very frustrating. Please advice

John564479 The app needs to support being used that way. This isn't a GrapheneOS limitation.

Maybe you'll find this post helpful:

Don't disable the keyboard or camera app. They can already not be disabled through the UI, and for good reason, as one can lock you out of your phone if you replace it with a keyboard not using direct boot, and the camera because it breaks system camera intents which are required to use the system camera.

I see. So this can't and should not be disabled, but is there a way to say always use my 3rd party camera app and use it through lock screen?

John564479 in short you need to unlock your device to be able to use it. The same goes for GrapheneOS Camera in my case, even with lockscreen shortcut enabled.

John564479 There's no reason you can't use a 3rd party camera app for the double press action and use it on the lockscreen if it supports those things. Nothing to do with disabling the system camera app which would be broken and would break app compatibility for apps using system media capture intents.

Hmm okay. When i used graphene stock app I could access it through the lockscreen bit alright

[deleted] No, for camera apps with lock screen support it is possible to use them w/o unlock if the global camera permission is allowed.

John564479 Try to go to the apps info (long press launcher icon) of gos cam and delete default settings in the open links entry, if this does not help, try to delete the app storage.

It seems to me that the problem is that GrapheneOS keeps asking which camera to use and only gives the option to set the stock cam as "always". The fact that it asks me that forces me to log in to reply to that message. The camera has a setting for lock screen which is enabled. Alternatively, I guess the app could be buggy

John564479 if you get that dialog, you should be able to set the other camera app as always. That's what I did with the pixel/Google camera app

John564479 Selecte always for GOS Can, then delete default settings for GOS Can, then you can choose always for every app.

How do I delete default settings? I tried to clear cach and data but now it just using GOS cam as default through lockscreen and open cam as default when the phone is unlocked

Long press on app icon> App info> Open by default> clear default
