Can't install Pixel Thermometer

I have a P8P and am on the latest GrapheneOS build, so I went to try out the thermometer app. In the Play Store, I go to install Pixel Thermometer by Google LLC. The app fully downloads, then I get the error "Can't install Pixel Thermometer. Try again, and if it still doesn't work see common ways to fix the problem (link)". I cleared the Play Store cache and rebooted the phone, but the issue persists.

On an earlier build, I had installed the app without issue, it just couldn't read the sensor so I uninstalled it. I disabled the new JIT and dynamic code settings and rebooted, but that also didn't help. Other apps are able to install normally. Anyone else running into this issue?

Just checked the permissions.
Why does the thermometer need background mobile data?

I guess, because a newly installed app by default gets run in the background (battery optimized) and background data.

PaulDavis check the regular permissions. You'll see network isn't listed there, so it doesn't connect to the internet.

Oggyo Run in the background is one thing. But to require the use of background mobile data, for an app that merely takes a temperature, is another. It would bring to mind that the app is monitored for some reason

Yeah, background mobile data is enabled by default on all apps regardless of if it even has network permissions to begin with.

But I actually don't see thermometer in my graphene app store. I'm on a Pixel 8 Pro. Was it a very recent addition? Are y'all on the default release channel or beta channel?
