Okay so let me start off by acknowledging and dismissing any and all attempts or desires to simply say or ask "Why don't I just use GOS?" Or "why do you want stock"?
I am fully aware that GOS offers the highest and best privacy and security. I am not dismissing that. That is not the point of this discussion, this is a thought experiment and I am curious about the technicalities of what I am about to present. Keep in mind, I've used GOS before, am not currently, but plan to return soon. Why I'm not currently is not the scope of this post.
So say I'm on stock. I'm happily giving Google all my precious data and a window into my digital footprint. But let's say I want to do something that calls for enhanced privacy, I don't want any Google services to even be present. If I were to install the GSI Non-GMS version and boot into it, do what I need, then revert, that's fully possible right? From what I can find, none of it is persistent, meaning every time I want to do something like that again, I start from a clean slate each and every time having to install whatever I need every time as well, correct? If yes, by design there's no way to resolve that, correct?
With the exception of the last two questions, installing the non-GMS version would on paper give me enhanced privacy compared to a stock OS, yes or no?
Also, if I remember correctly, GSI builds and DSU loader are not active or usable within GOS. This is because the kernel is different than stock and you would either fail to reboot into the GSI or potentially brick your phone so it is deactivated as a result. Is this correct?
If it is, let's pretend some way somehow it didn't require the kernel to be stock in order to flash GSI builds.... Again on paper if that was the case, DSU loader could be usable and one could flash either GSI build to reboot into and have a fully stock experience, correct?
Again this is all just a thought experiment. I am aware that even if the very last question I just asked was possible, it would require a lot of work that is outside of the scope of the GOS team and will most likely never be implemented. Please understand, I was just trying to ascertain the overall concept of how these GSI builds work in an attempt to harden my privacy while I'm using stock for my personal private reasons until I am able to go back to GOS.
If there's any confusion or questions about what I have asked, please feel free to let me know and I would like to thank you all for your time and reading and or providing any information that you may have on this subject.
