Can't remove GmsCompat

Hey, tried an app that needed GmsCompat.
Now I cant uninstall it anymore.

GOS -> Apps -> GmsCompat Config -> 3-button-menu
allows me to "Uninstall updates" instead of uninstalling the app itself.

When confirming "uninstall updates" nothing happens.

What can I do?

I believe GmsCompat is built into GOS. That is why you can only uninstall the updated versions. It is the Google Play Store, Play Services, and Service Framework that are the optional components which can be installed/uninstalled.

wonder75 as mythodical states GMSCompat is the compatibility layer built into the OS that enables the use of Play Services as regular sandboxed user apps.

You should not alter the state of any system apps.

If I don't update GMSCompat app, only Updating "Gmscompat config" is enough.

And you have ever seen updating gmscompat apk. Or just config needs to be updated

Why do I need GmsCompat when I don't use Play Services? And if it's "built-in" why does it come as separate app and not with the regular OS update?

If it's needed I would expect it at OS-included and if only needed for Play Services I would expect that it is not pre-installed.

Some apps are updated with OS updates, like Vanadium and Auditor. GmsCompat might be one of them, but I'm not sure. Either way, it's easier for them to push an app update than an OS update just to update an app.

GmsCompatConfig is there to make updating GmsCompat easier. It's basically just a text file. It's all on the project's Github if you want to take a look.

GMSCompatConfig is just the user facing app to make changes to the underlying system level feature that enables Play Services to be installed as regular sandboxed user level apps.

GMSCompatConfig does not do anything on your device or interact with anything unless Play Services are present.
