No SIM but yes number for calls

Aloha,
Some say SIMs are privacy nightmares and so recommend calling via voip.

I still want to make calls to people with normal phones and I still want to have a number normies can reach me at.

What are some good phone number apps or programs y'all can vouch for that respect privacy without need for sim?

It might help if you state your country, so that you can get a suitable number.
You can use a VoIP number without a sim live in the phone, but are then reliable on WiFi. You might also need a live sim in a second phone just to initiate the service. I did it successfully with one our providers

For VoIP, there are two that get discussed pretty often (particularly for US based customers):

cheogram/jmp.chat (does not require google play services)

mysudo (requires google play services to be installed if you want incoming call/sms notifications; also requires you to sign up/pay subscription fee from another standard android/ios device)

If you search for either of these on the forum you'll find quite a few threads on them!

+1 for the jmp.chat/cheogram combination. I have a few numbers through them and use a data only sim.

It was a bit confusing for me to set it up initially (I had no idea what XMPP was), but now everything works well.
