Hello everyone,
my Pixel 6 (with grapheneOS of course) is broken and I have been to a certified google repair shop. They told me, there is an interruption in the main circuit board when hey hooked up a testing device to it. This means, it can only be repaired by replacing the circuit board.
So, if my device is completely dead and not able to boot, I would like to hand it in to the dealer I bought it from, because I still have got warranty and I can get it replaced.
As far as I know, a Pixel phone in general is hard to get data from, especially when it does not boot, but is it safe to just send it to the dealer? I am a little worried if someone gets the phone, maybe out of the recycling container and extracts my data.
So I guess, I will just have to do this? This seems like my only option to get a new phone without buying a new one. Is there anything I can do to protect my data without physically destroying the phone?

Sorry for my worries and thank you a lot,
greeting agl218

agl218 Does the repair shop think they can temporarily bridge the gap long enough (and in a temporary way) that they can boot into Recovery and do a "factory reset"?

If not, is the data protected by a short PIN, a long PIN, or a passphrase? The larger the key space is the less likely it is that somebody willing to disassemble the device and extract the flash can brute-force the key.

agl218 brute force could be used but would be slowed by the chip in the pixel, titan

If it's sensitive info, you could also just ask to watch what he does and offer to pay extra for that

If he has 4 days to do it and the pin is 4 digits, he could get through 10000 options in 4 days, extract the data.and pretend he didnt. Its unlikely but not impossible.

agl218 I would see if the shop you went to in person can do the repair and ask for the old board back , or physically damage the chips .
