Is there a way to customise GrapheneOS more?

Is there a way to customise GrapheneOS in the Settings app itself? I'm talking about miniscule details like the font/size of the clock, font of the system, changing the home screen and transparency settings (like when pulling up the apps). Are there any plans on adding more customisation options or should you just use third parties for this?

If you mean on the lockscreen, then not that I know of. Closest to this is the "Dynamic clock" setting.

You can try looking through the github, but ultimately aesthetic customisation is typically going to be low-priority most of the time.

Dumdum I get that it's low priority, it's understandable. Can I ask if you know which launchers are safe to use to change the home screen? Don't wanna risk downloading viruses or malware...

Generally speaking, you should be fine to use any launcher off of Fdroid that's been updated in the past 6-12 months.

Dumdum and Lawnchair is fully safe and doesn't collect any data from you? I've never installed a launcher before hence my evident beginner questions.

Clark you have to look at the code. "Fully safe" is nothing.

If the app does not need internet permission, and it doesnt connect with other apps to send data, it is harmless even if it is proprietary. Which Lawnchair isnt.

missing-root it would have been better if you had finished your offer of knowledge by adding what would be a better option. Not everyone knows or can read code, and many of us are only able to improve our engagement with GOS based on recommendations

PaulDavis It seems to me he was just correctly pointing out that without reading the code yourself (and technically compiling it yourself), you have no way of knowing what the app is doing in the background. There is just no better option if you want to be sure something is as close to "fully safe" as possible. It really doesn't matter where you source the app from unless you can read the code and verify that the app you're using is actually compiled from that code.

So I'm not sure what you mean by recommending a "better option". The OP specifically asked if it was "fully safe", and that's a good answer to that question IMO.

Yes, "fully safe" is not possible. And we cant just throw around random third party projects. Like, I am sure Vanadium is secure. But I have no idea who develops many third party apps.

It is up to you to choose. Android and GrapheneOS restrict apps a lot. There are also checks, for example on F-Droid, where many apps get rejected after a code review.

But in the end you always need trust.
