Hi there,
I recently got a Pixel 8a and immediately flashed GOS on it. After initial setup, I also tried plugging it to my monitor through a USB C-HDMI adapter, and everything worked fine, both screen mirroring and desktop mode (forced through developer options). Two days ago, I was prompted to reboot the phone for an update, and since then I am unable to connect the phone to external displays.
I've tried multiple cables and monitors, tweaked all possible settings in the developer options, tried plugging the phone only with a full battery, but the end result is always the same: a system error message saying "unable to mirror display - try using a different cable".
However, before the update, I was ALWAYS able to get video output without any issues, lag, or disconnection - maybe my phone USB C port got damaged?
I tried looking in the forum to see if others were experiencing this but nothing.
I know that external display support is still experimental, but to my understanding you should be able to al least get some kind of video output (as I did until two days ago).
But before buying even more hardware, I wanted to check and see if this is a known issue.
Currently on build 2024071200, Alpha channel.
