RedReader in VPN isn't blocked by Reddit

When I visit Reddit in Vanadium

I get this error

When I use https://github.com/QuantumBadger/RedReader on the same device I am able to see content (links, comments, etc).

Why? What is RedReader doing different than my browser?

Not sure about RedReader, but that blocked message can be sorted by changing the server of your VPN and refreshing until it stops giving the message.

Scott I have been seeing the same message using Firefox on my computers for the past few months. Did they get sold and listed as a business recently? I think this is to do with them trying to monetize their user base and hence becoming unfriendly to anti-tracking measure, ublock-origin, VPNs etc. So my theory would be this has nothing to do with GrapheneOS.

Scott They're likely just using IP-based blocking of VPNs. I can access Reddit without issues using ProtonVPN Norway servers. Reddit could also block these in the future. Try the suggestion by Dumdum to change servers until you're not blocked.

If you're not using a VPN but are visiting Reddit.com from your residential IP address and you're still blocked... that might be some cause for concern, as it likely means that your residential IP address has been added to spam or malware lists that services use as a basis for their IP-based blocking...

Yes. Opera VPN (proprietary) is my resolution. I search for a more open solution

I also constantly get this message. A redlib or similar instance like: https://redlib.privacyredirect.com/ does also work or i simply log in with some random account.
