Hello,
I was using my Pixel 6 with GrapheneOS since December and I was very pleased about the reliability and ease using it. In my opinion GrapheOS is a very good OS.
But since yesterday my phone seems dead. Here is what happened:
While I was out in the city the phone went out due to an empty battery. Not a big deal, this has happened to me before. When I came back home, I plugged in the phone and it booted right away as usual and worked fine. After at least 2 hours I unplugged it and took it with me to go somewhere else, but when I took it out of my pocket it was dead.
As far as I remember I also got the message while it was charging, that I should reboot due to an update. So I did tap reboot but did not watch the phone the whole time. The phone was still charging when I started the reboot.
So after I removed the charging cable and took it with me, I would have expected it to ask me for the SIM pin, but as mentioned before, it was dead. As far as I remember, battery was more than 60 percent when I tapped on reboot.
What I have tried so far:
-Of course I tried to turn it on by holding the power button.
-I held the power button for an extended period of time.
-I used the recovery mode button combination of power and volume down, also holding it.
-I plugged it back in, also using another charger and cable. The phone does not seem to accept power, the AC adapter is staying cool and normally they get warm.
-So all in all, the phone does nothing and it is not about the black screen problem I have read about with Pixel 6, because it does not charge and it does not vibrate.

Do you have any suggestions what I should try? Unfortunately it is also a long time since I did the last backup of my files and if I could get them back it would be wonderful. The phone also still has warranty by the dealer I bought it from, so if needed, I will have to send it to them and hopefully they can repair it. But I also wanted to know if there is something I can do before sending it in.

Thank you and have a nice day!
Hannah

There are several posts in this forum in your problem. Maybe this may help:

raccoondad From what I understand, attempting to boot it enough times while plugged in will fix it.

Thank you for your reply, but the problem mentioned in the linked thread seem to be another one. My phone does nothing at all.

agl218 The symptoms described sound like a hardware failure. Perhaps the battery was marginal from the factory. The description sounds as if perhaps the battery was frequently run down to zero, and perhaps frequently fast-charged. That combination places a lot of wear on a battery, and if it is not in great shape to start with it might fail.

If it is not possible to get the device to boot, then it would be extremely impractical to extract data from it (Pixels are designed to make this very difficult, for security purposes).

A local repair shop might be willing to try replacing the battery instead of just replacing the device, but to go that route you might need to pay. And if possible it would probably be good to use a Google-certified repair shop, so that if some part other than the battery is bad the shop would be in a position to invoke Google's warranty. Or perhaps the dealer you bought it from would be willing to try replacing the battery without wiping the device, though it's hard to know.

Thank you! Yes I also suspect a problem with the battery or battery controller unit (if something like this exists in this context).
The phone only died twice because of low battery since I used it and has never been fast charged. I use an older but slow charger to reduce stress on the battery.
I will wait for the reply of the dealer to decide about the next steps. Hopefully they are willing to try and repair the device without wiping it.
        Have a nice day!
