MDM on Grapheneos?

HaskellClamm

Highly anticipated feature.

@headwind-mdm
Any news or progress on the mdm on grapheneos?

1984

Looking forward to this.

Has there been any update reguarding progress or further plans to integrate mdm on graphene os?

alexscarter

I'm also looking forward to MDM support!

Looked for a +1 button, not seeing one. I don't want to be annoying and pile on, but I do thank the team for all their work here (love GOS) and add my name to the list of MDM people. All my old phones are GOS but I can't put it on my DD until I can use it for work.

MDM would be very useful. I thought MDM features were already available. GrapheneOS with MDM on work devices would be ideal.

The core parts of MDM technology are in AOSP and thus in GrapheneOS. The problem is that most MDM management apps "know" that every Android device comes with Google Play preinstalled, so typical corporate configurations specify installing a variety of apps from the Play Store, so installation fails. This is solvable, but not trivial.

Looks like there is a big progress in the MDM support on GrapheneOS - QR code provisioning seems to be included in the official release. This is great news for many MDM developers suffering from recent elevated restrictions of DPC applications, who can migrate their projects to GrapheneOS-powered devices. @GrapheneOS Is there an expected release date, and could you be interested in a relevant PR event (Headwind will be happy to sponsor it)?

I do not speak for the GrapheneOS project, but to my eyes that repository does not look close to being mergeable.

GrapheneOS

headwind-mdm The repository you've linked isn't an official GrapheneOS repository. We didn't merge QR code provisioning and major changes are required in order for it to meet our requirements. Nothing related to this has been merged due to the submitted code needing major changes.

headwind-mdm

GrapheneOS Oops, I saw 16-qpr2 and didn't realize that was a fork, sorry for misleading you. By the way, are you still interested in implementing the QR code MDM provisioning feature, and what you mean by "major changes"? We can adapt the code to 16-qpr2 (I believe no or minor changes required) and squash the commits as per the review of @de0u, but adding the source code of ZXing and updating versions of other libraries needs discussion with your dev team as these changes are related to shared code and may potentially affect other parts of GrapheneOS. If a member of your dev team will contact us to clarify your requirements, we could proceed further.

GrapheneOS @headwind-mdm

I would also love to see this merged. I am working on parental control app for a "kids phone" using MDM and it would really be nice to have the QR enrollment. I would also think that with the moto partnership that it would be beneficial in corporate adoption of gos which is what moto wants. Seems like @headwind-mdm is willing to do the work if there is some direction as to what is needed. Thanks for all you do GOS!

I don't speak for the GrapheneOS project, but I think there has been a little bit of direction, which I think so far is without result. My vague general sense is that it would be necessary to generate a fair amount of feedback, and then there would need to be a fair amount of further development. So I don't think the situation is that this is almost done and needs just a bit of encouragement. At a wild guess, it might be only 35% done.

Interested, following.

Now i found one MDM which is the perfect one for grapheneOS, they claim that it is especially made for grapheneOS. The Installation of the MDM Agent and setting the Agent as DeviceOwner works with 1 Button, i will test it out, they gave me one month test for free.

I found Them on instagram, there Name is Shadowz MDM, if you guys still looking for an MDM solution, contact them.
