mylesofsmiles thats a lot of permissions...
Using RCS with Google Messages on GrapheneOS
thed0ctor stopped working today. Made no changes :(
Mine keeps unregistering every 3 days or so and I have to repeat the process. It seems to me like we need to find a way to manually change the ACS URL. Unfortunately newer Google Messages versions don't seem to have an option to do this in activity launcher. I've been looking for a way to change the ACS URL in debug settings to no avail.
I wonder if there's a way to permanently assign an ACS URL via something like adb
Does anyone know if something changed about Graphene around November/December that might impact this?
I've done all the troubleshooting including a factory reset and a new SIM card. I get RCS within moments with this SIM on another stock OS phone.

*I've also tried turning on auto verification of phone numbers within my Google account. That's something that helped earlier in the year to get RCS.
This time around the status of auto verification doesn't change from "pending". Makes me think Google isn't seeing something it wants to see in order to do it's verification.
I am still here with you guys; my RCS is still connected.
If you are using a DNS service like NextDNS or ControlD, try adding your RCS ACS URL to the whitelist to ensure that it isn't being blocked.

Is that with the older apk?
I may go that route, but it'd be nice to get this sorted out with the current version. It's not my preference to run old software if I can help it.
Unregistered again after 3 days, so that's at least consistent.
patienttruth99 the version I'm currently on is 20240116_01_RC00.
bluesl33ves so you started with the apk that allows access to the ACL field, then updated normally?
After turning on airplane mode for a few hours, my status is saying "Setting up". It is not changing from that state.

This is actually an option I opted to turn off instead. Been connected for a full week with no interruptions. I am a little hesitant to update Google Messages after updating it to whatever the current Google Messages build was a week ago.
New user here / first post, installed GOS upon purchasing a new 7a a few days ago - was following this thread since RCS chats wasn't working for me (would be stuck at Verifying), which was a feature that was working with my provider (Mint) on my previous phone.
Just now I was going through Permissions Manager under Privacy since it was a menu I haven't gone through yet. I scrolled down to SMS and saw that Google (installed for Google Lens / Translate), Google Play services, and Google Play Store was under "Not Allowed". I gave all three permissions, and now I have "Status: Connected" for the first time ever.
Forgive me if this is not relevant to this current discussion with using beta versions and things, but I wanted to share. I'll keep an eye on it for now, and would be curious to know if this is even a desirable solution.
Messages for me will be a tertiary messaging app since most of my day-to-day messaging happens on other apps, so I wasn't too bothered about the permissions.

Nobody knows anything, but this is a forum for specialists, isn't it?
