What is the benefit of Lockdown Mode?

It seems to me that anyone reaching for the power menu hoping to press "Lockdown" would be better off pressing "Restart" instead. This would put the device back in BFU state, including any other user profiles, also preventing biometric login.

Are there any compelling reasons to use Lockdown Mode? It seems to me like it could be removed.

It's an AOSP feature so it might not be worth the effort to remove it if it doesn't pose a security risk. And probably not.

DeletedUser29 One reason to get it removed may be because of confusion, where people (me for example) wrongly believed that the device will be put in BFU state, but apparently this is not the case.

TrustExecutor I wouldn't use it in the first place, i would restart. But I assumed it would lock the phone down too, to BFU.
