I am attempting to install grapheneos on a pixel tablet
I am stuck at the "flashing factory images" step on the web interface.
The web interface is stuck on "restarting device..."

The device is stuck on "fastbootd" screen:
GrapheneOS Fastboot
Product name - tangorpro
Bootloader version - tanorpro-14.4-11458464
Baseband version -
Secure boot - yes
HW version - MP1.0
Use volume up/down and power.

Reboot system now
Enter recovery
Reboot to bootloader
Power off

When this happened previously, I chose "Reboot system now", but then it was stuck in a reboot loop. I got out of the loop by using the power and volume button hold down. Then the web interface then went to "error bootloader replied with fail: invalid command update-super:super:wipe". I tried again and now back to the fastbootd screen.

What is the best course of action?

Hi htty, I'm having the same symptoms on a Pixel 7. See my post and replies @Install on P7 is failing to complete under General and Pixel7. When/if I do get a solution that works I'll try to reply here again. Other than the specifics of your Pixel Tablet my symptoms are the same.

Good luck to both of us, and welcome to Graphene OS - I do think it's worth the bother!

hgty It's really hard to brick a Pixel. Not sure it's even possible when using the web installer. If flashing fails, just try again. If it continues to fail, try a different cable (you need a high quality cable like the one that came with the phone), or try a different USB port, or try flashing from a different device. Throughout the whole flashing process, don't mess with or move the device.

other8026 Thank you, I solved my similar problem on a Pixel 7 with the right USB cable and the right USB port on my T480 laptop. @hgty I recommend you check cable and USB port, try every combination if you need to.

Also, thanks @de0u for suggesting, be sure to shut down any other browser AND any other browser window/tab besides the one running your GrapheneOS install. Pretty sure that made a difference in my case.

        Good luck!

@tija , @other8026 . Thank you for the tips. To start over, would the best choice be to choose "Reboot to bootloader" or one of the other options? right now I am on the fastbootd screen and I need to choose one of the item below.

        1. Reboot system now
        2. Enter recovery
        3. Reboot to bootloader
        4. Power off

hgty I believe #3, Reboot to bootloader should work for you. I'd unplug from the USB before making that selection so that you get a clean start, and close the browser and re-open just the grapheneos.org page for Install.

          Good luck!

hgty fastbootd isn't the same thing. You want to be in fastboot to start the flashing process. The web installer will restart the phone into fastbootd by itself. So try reboot to bootloader or just restart and enter fastboot like it says in the instructions on the website.

          5 days later

I did get it to work. I had to download it a few more times and try to flash it a few more times. And I used the usb c-c cord from google. It finally worked. It may be because I removed it from the dock or because I toggled the options in fastbootd while it was flashing or maybe I just got lucky. I had one browser window open as suggest as well.
