  • Downsides to making my owner profile my "Google Profile?"

I currently have 5 profiles.

Owner (ie profile 1) = app installation (play store, obtainium, F-Droid basic, vpn) with an anonymous google account.

Profile 2 - no play services. Any app that doesn't require it (95% of my apps) + some PWAs.

Profile - Google apps signed in and it also includes a few apps that require play services. Currently, its just Yahoo Finance and WhatsApp (so it can make Google drive backups).

Profile 4 - Navigation. I keep this disabled when not in use. Google maps and other random apps I might want while driving.

Profile 5 - Banking. I also keep this disabled when not in use.

I'm getting a bit privacy fatigued. I'm thinking about downsizing from 5 to 4, making the owner account my Google account, which sounds strange. It would really feel like 2 profiles since the navigation profile and banking profiles will be disabled most of the time.

I always see people doing it the other way where owner is no play services and a user Profile is used for google stuff. But the reason for it this way is so I can still use the play store to install the majority of my apps, albeit without the anonymous google account. Though, that's probably beyond my threat model anyway since I'm already logging into google already on another profile.

I'm also considering moving all my messaging apps to that owner as well so they can take advantage of more efficient push notifications. Even if I install them again in my non-GPS Profile for convenience, I can turn off notifications and rely on the cross Profile notifications instead, further saving battery life.

Outside of Google knowing which apps I have installed, which they probably knew already, are there any additional privacy risks to making my owner my designated google profile instead of any other Profile? Does the owner have additional privileges that I'm overlooking?

I have a similar setup to yours except I don't have any profile continuously running Play Services. I don't think there is any major privacy risk here with what you want to do even though I won't personally want the Play Services running all the time because even sandboxed they are still a threat in my books, i.e. can can communicate with other apps in different profiles using loopback network interface, see battery stats, etc. For most users through that's not really a concern.

Owner profile has access to more system-wide settings for the person using it, however apps running in the Owner profile don't get any extra privileges or permissions.

So it boils down to your personal decision.
