tech_noob Should I try exploit protection compatiblity mode?

Shouldn't make a difference.

Some people elsewhere have reported a VPN might be another reason for the error, so perhaps try without one.

Running into the same issue, though I can't tell since when this is the case as I never had snapchat on graphene OS.

I did reach out to snapchat's support and they mentioned two points:

If you are using a VPN, we recommend that you switch it off. If you are not using a VPN, try switching to a different network (changing from WiFi to a mobile network, switching to a different WiFi network, etc.).

If you are experiencing issues creating an account and have a rooted device, you may want to try unrooting your device, removing any exploitation software, and reinstalling the app before creating an account.
Rooted devices circumvent security defenses built into the mobile device, exposing your Snapchat account to additional risk and may not be supported.

The network thing didn't make a difference for me with/without a VPN, wifi or my cellular connection, neither did installing version 11.95.0.39.

I suspect this is related to the second point about "rooted devices". To me this sounds like they introduced some kind of detection and just throw you the "SS03" or "something went wrong".
The exploit protection compatibily flag also didn't change it.

Same problem. My first assumption is that it's Snapchats fault but I'm honestly not sure. Somehow my auto updates got turned back on so it's very hard to tell who's fault it is when both graphene and snap is auto updating.

Real stupid of them to care so much about having a "secure" environment. Aka a Google spyware sandbox, when root detection is so easily bypassed and they have a web app that's a lot easier to exploit.

    No VPN btw

Johannes_silver It was/is a problem with installing it on my admin user. I created a second user installed the old snap version logged me in (which I was able to) and upgraded snapchat (so I have the newest mal/spyware installed). You guys are really the best and you can't imagen how much of a headache I had to go through and without you it would be so much worse. Really from the bottom of my heart, thank you.
    (っ^_^)っ

    Johannes_silver In fact you can!

    1. Install archived version, login successfully
    2. Uninstall app BUT keep application data
    3. Install fresh app from the source you prefer

evaniumses the problem with my main account is that i couldn't install snapchat at all. I tried 20+ different apks and the one from Aurora Store also multible times and I always got the error. For me it's not a problem because I can live with having a second Account (which is proberly even better) but I just wanted to clarify

peppe I have had the same or similar issue. And I have been able to both log in and be blocked from logging in from two or three different GrapheneOS devices. Two Pixel 5As and one 8A. One 5A broke, and I had a spare, unused 5A that I would keep around for parts, or as a spare phone dedicated to travel and other misc uses. My primary 5A was malfunctioning, so I was trying to migrate to the unused/new Pixel 5A that I have had laying around for a long while. Both phones fully updated. With the new 5A not working with my snap logins blocked, I decided that with support ending for the 5A, I will get an 8A ordered in.

This is my observation. For phones that have already had snapchat logged into it in the past, I am able to log in just fine. With my stock-android Google Pixel from 2016 or my old, malfunctioning GrapheneOS 5A that I have used for a while, I can log in and out without issue.

The new Pixel 5A blocks my logins with the same error you guys describe. Regardless of being on a fresh user profile, play services installed or uninstalled, or a VPN service being enabled/not. I figured it could be a device ban of sorts. I installed a fresh install of Graphene on the 8A this morning. Logins are blocked.

I ran across a reddit thread about how Snapchat checks for Roots upon login and the workaround was downloading the
Snapchat 11.95.0.39 APK. Users there say that Snap checks for root upon login, but you can update the app afterwards. Although their advice was not Graphene-specific. I installed it on the 8A, which was blocking my logins prior, and now I can log in just fine.

Had the same issue after flashing GOS on a Pixel 8a. Definitely a snapchat issue. Resolved by first uninstalling, then installing a previous version via apk mirror linked above. Logged in no problem on the previous version, then went to Play Store to update to latest. Thanks for the tips all

It's been beyond frustrating, especially as a first time GOS user. Using a Pixel 6a it was impossible to even sign up, persistent SS03 errors or the text "Due to unusual activity..."

I suspect a combination of many things contribute to a risk score they must assign. VPN +1, Ad blocking DNS +1, none store install +1, Custom ROM +1, Older version +1, etc

Even after replacing with versions other people had success with (12.67.01 and 11.95.0.39), no luck at all. Installing on a stock Pixel 7 pro it worked flawlessly and I could create an account.

Logging in on my GOS Pixel 6a resulted in a ban after 3 hours. Now that number and email combo is blacklisted which is a little frustrating for one app. They really don't want you going secure on them.

For me it worked with the apk (11.95.0.39), then loggin in, updateing the app. Still works for me.

Lets see if I'm getting banned.

      Useing VPN!

The same APK worked for me, same problem. Could upgrade in play store afterwards without issue.
