Pipo There is nothing like that for GOS from what I understand. Wasted has an option for a fake airplane mode tile you can select to wipe the device tho. Wasted is on F-Droid, so is Duress

Maybe it does exist, but that does not mean it is a feature supported by official GrapheneOS builds. GrapheneOS is open-source, so people can fork it to add their own new features.

Pipo That isn't GrapheneOS. It looks like a custom build, perhaps based on GrapheneOS that someone has made.

GrapheneOS is working on a duress feature itself. When that's ready, it might have a similar button of some form, but currently, nothing like that exists, and no app solutions are robust enough to be recommended.

You were asking how to add the button to GrapheneOS. I just checked the code, and unless I'm mistaken wiping the phone is not supported from that dialogue box. The only way to add it is to modify the code.

This is the thing: there are likely a number of people here on the forum who know how to figure out how to do this, some of which you are disagreeing with right here in this thread. It's unlikely that anyone just knows how to add buttons or add the functionality you're asking for off the top of their head, so it seems that you want others to do the work/research for you. AOSP is huge and can be hard to navigate. In order to add just a little button could be a much larger project than you would expect, and may actually take a lot of reading through code and possibly a lot of trial and error.

Pipo Don't know what else I can do to convince you that this isn't GrapheneOS rather than to explain that I know for a fact this is not possible on GrapheneOS.

It seems like someone forked GrapheneOS and added that. The code is open source, they can do that.

Them "saying" it's GrapheneOS doesn't make it that. A fork of GrapheneOS is no longer GrapheneOS. They likely meant that whatever they made is based on GrapheneOS. If they're marketing or portraying that end product as GrapheneOS, that's incorrect and they shouldn't be doing that since it leads to these exact confusions.

By the way, that wipe feature on that fork likely doesn't work correctly, same with apps like Wasted. GrapheneOS' duress feature will wipe without rebooting the device, therefore preventing situations where the wipe can be cancelled.

Pipo As per my post above, this looks like someone forked GrapheneOS (which means it took the open code and changed it) and added the feature you're talking about.

That feature is not in GrapheneOS. It's in that person's changed version of GrapheneOS.

You can use Auditor to confirm if something is running an official GrapheneOS release. Whatever that fork is, it's not GrapheneOS, and using auditor would confirm that.

Pipo if you really want that wipe button feature badly and it fits your threat model (despite it being likely unreliable), I assume you can do 2 things:

Research how it's done and code it yourself, but it won't be easy as people have mentioned already.
Ask the person who owns the phone in the image how it was done or which vendor they obtained this phone with an OS that is clearly not GrapheneOS, and repeat what they did.

These are the only ways I can think how you get your request solved. Before you do that, I advice you take some time to rethink or recreate your threat model. On second thought you might not actuallIy want an unreliable wipe button that gives you a false sense of protection...

I came to the conclusion that the GrapheneOS devs apply features in a very serious manner (as in "only if it works consistently" and "no bullshit, snake oil, security/privacy theatre"). Since such a wipe button is not (yet) present in the original GrapheneOS, it's very likely that it's not a trustworthy feature. I'd rather wait for the duress pin and use the anti theft features that are already there and well implemented.

Pipo If I buy a Toyota Highlander and weld a statue of a chicken to the roof, and you see me driving it down the road, and take a picture of it, and go to a Toyota dealer and demand they sell you the model of Toyota Highlander that has a chicken statue on the roof, they might not have one in stock (ever) -- even if what I originally bought was a Toyota Highlander and it does have a chicken statue on the roof.

Pipo You can't add it, it's just not possible. We don't know what that photo is, but its not GOS, possibly a fork.
