Is there a Navigation app that does NOT require GSF?

GraphHopper? Not sure what it uses, I have no GSF enabled and it works.
I only have a problem with the location but I need to experiment more.

And yes, OpenStreetMap in a browser works nice too.
You can set how you would like to travel (car, foot, others) and even via anothe rplace if you would like.
GraphHopper can do this too.
On OpenStreetMap you can chose 5 or 6 different servies to calculate your route.

I used OrganicMaps especially on older hardware because its downloadable offline maps are pre-rendered, so the whole application takes less CPU than OsmAnd(+). However, after buying a fitness tracker and integrating it with Gadgetbridge, I swapped to OsmAnd(+) on my Pixel 6a so I could track myself when excercising outdoors if I wanted to.
MagicEarth isn't entirely open source, but I think you'll have that problem anyway in case you want nice and good sounding natural voices, so that would be my preferred choice in a car (love the British English voices).
I don't have Google services installed, but all three work very well. Hope that helps...

At least in Europe, Magic Earth is probably the best choice but it is not fully FOSS. Among FOSS navigation apps, I recommend Organic Maps. OSMAND has many awesome features, but many users (including myself) experience annoying lagging.

d4f2 Organic Maps requires Google TTS (or anything similar, but no one similar software is available for certain languages like Spanish) and Google TTS requires to have Network permission all the time or to install GSF

Mark81 Hello Mark81, I've been using MagicEarth for a couple years now and it works fine for me. If you email support@magicearth.com and tell them you have a degoogled phone, they will send you a link to download their apk direct. Their support group is great. You will not need GPF unless you want to use Android Auto.

If you don't have a TTS engine configured on your P8P, consider RHVoice. It's free open source and you can download it from their direct link. MagicEarth also provides how to configure RHVoice here. NOTE; The step-by-step TTS configuration might be slightly different for your Pixel 8 Pro.

duck1 Hello duck1, The direct apk (not downloaded from GP) does not seem to self update. The link they send connects to a password protected download. Mine still works but I have not tried to update my version.

You will get update notifications for maps you have downloaded for offline use.

I have emailed MagicEarth and asked about apk update notifications. I'll let you know what they say.

You can check the link every 2-3 months or so for a new version.
The app prompts you when new maps are available and downloads them, but the app does not update itself.

For "navigation" I meant an app that guide your throughout a route by car or on foot, like Goggle Maps, Waze, Sygic or... Magic Earth! Thanks for the suggestion, it's great.

Now I only have to understand how to make AA work - or better find a compatible alternative ;-)

Mark81 Mark81, Magic Earth will fill your needs and here is their info on getting AA to work with GOS. Magic Earth FAQs - Install Magic Earth from Google play. APKs from other sources may not work with Android Auto. (CarPlay & Android Auto is towards the bottom of their FAQ page).

Another suggestion not mentioned is HERE WeGo. Has live traffic info and doesn't need any Google services on the phone. I use it together with RHVoice (linked above).

Any of these mapping services that don't require Google, do alerts for speed cameras in Europe? These have been costly for me since degoogling. Or do you have an app that you recommend to do just that?

Privacy1st Hello Privacy1st, Here is a link for Magic Earth Speed Camera Coverage. They do not require Google services, but they will need internet service through your phone to provide camera warnings.

Magic Earth has radar camera warnings in my area and is available for download on their website - you have to email their support team and they will send you a link to their download site (if you do not want to use Playstore to download)
