I'm thankful and happy about GOS security features, but my main reason to use it is not having spammy apps asking for permissions and showing notifications and crap all the time.

I use GOS before sandboxed play services existed, when something doesn't work I use their website or alternative apps.

I'm really happy to have an alternate OS that feels like an improved OEM ROM, not looking back for anything else.

Discontinued is not the same thing as EOL. Discontinued means they are no longer producing the product and/or making new models/generations. Tablets that are already produced and in the market can still be sold.

I have to disagree, the word discontinued does not just mean the product is not being produced. I here where your coming from though but with out word picking my point was more to that you can still buy them with 2 years before eol and even if you don't see the point paying full price within that time frame you can get them on eBay used at a decent price.
My point in a nut shell was: no need to quit Grapheneos OS for a iPad when there is still this good option.

When searching for the announcement on halting production of the Pixel Tablet, I figured it was the latest model. The news articles on the matter, when they were posted, and what model they were talking about was confusing, so I posted a link to one such article I found. Iirc it has been discussed before on other threads that Google is no longer going to make any new Pixel Tablet generations.

Is it not about the latest Pixel Tablet model?

Yeah I see where you are coming from as well. But I read FunkTastic comment as if they already knew that, and were just announcing their disappointment. :)
