wuseman What's the recommended way to donate? Which way gives you the most money and has the lowest fees?
Murcielago wuseman Maybe you find this helpful: https://discuss.grapheneos.org/d/13955-donation-methods/2 https://grapheneos.org/donate
Murcielago wuseman The main takeaway i guess is that PayPal is the least preferable solution due to its fees. I remembered another statement of GrapheneOS project about cryptocurrencies, which I've only just found: https://discuss.grapheneos.org/d/10791-how-does-the-grapheneos-foundation-treat-crypto-donations/8
wuseman Murcielago Yes I saw that PayPal is the least preferred option. Still wish I said which one is the most preferred one ;)
wuseman matchboxbananasynergy Bank transfer it is then. It seems to have a 0.3% fee for me, while GitHub Sponsors seems to have a 3% fee. So it seems like a no brainer.
sav This thread has mentioned Liberapay and Open Collective. I also noticed F-Droid offers these two options as main donation sources on their front page. For someone not deep into this (yet), would you mind answering following questions: From donor's perspective, what is their main advantage say over Paypal, Bank transfer or credit card? Is there a reason GrapheneOS does not/cannot offer Liberapay and Open Collective options currently?
AlanZ Just sent an additional one time PayPal donation. Happy to be able to help the project whenever I can.
AlanZ Another donation in a strangely specific (palindrome-like) amount sent by PayPal ; ) Happy the project exists, even though I am not using GOS at the moment.
AlanZ Just made another donation to GOS. I sleep easier knowing this project exists and will support it no matter what.
papapapaprche AlanZ Just made another donation to GOS. I sleep easier knowing this project exists and will support it no matter what. Exactly the same here ! People please keep doing new donations ! Especially recurring donations. As many as big as you can.
DeletedUser127 Come on guys, stop being selfish. I have done my bit, it's your turn. No more junk food or weekend drinks, just pure GOS bliss. They deserve it. Okay, one more don from me, then it's your turn. Or I'm gonna have to chase you.
DeletedUser127 DeletedUser127 If everyone conscious of privacy donates only once what I did just now they won't have to worry about future device support for the rest of our lives. Me done, 299k to go. Put a price on your privacy.
DeletedUser370 DeletedUser127 Come on guys, stop being selfish In my experience, trying to encourage people to do something by describing their behaviour in judgmental ways very rarely motivates them to do the thing that I would like them to do.
DeletedUser127 DeletedUser127 I have seen enough bullshit in my life, show me you are real men, so I can see some feedback from the dev team, not that I don't see it already
Panda-na DeletedUser127 it's better with a monthly support than a one time donation. If I recall correctly, since GrapheneOS is a non-profit organization, they have to use the money they receive in the same year. They cannot put it in the bank and have a big reserve. And the problem with that is if someone decided to donate 100k dollars, that's a lot of money, enough to hire a full time developer. But if they don't get the same level of donations the next year, they don't have enough funds to pay that developer anymore.
de0u DeletedUser127 I think there are members of the forum who aren't men of any kind, "real" or otherwise.
DeletedUser127 de0u they may not be men, but they're still human. And my post does not prevent them from revealing their true feelings.
DeletedUser370 Panda-na If I recall correctly, since GrapheneOS is a non-profit organization, they have to use the money they receive in the same year. They cannot put it in the bank and have a big reserve. Is there a source for this claim? Is there a law saying that a Canadian non-profit organization is obliged to spend the millions of dollars it has saved up in the same year in which they received the money?
