  • What feature/app do you use that the majority never talk about?

Byku To have the Nitterify functionality for a lot more privacy front-ends (e.g. Reddit, YouTube, Medium etc.), have a look at Linksheet.

Audile (MusicRecognizer) uses the AudD and ACRCloud APIs for recognition, Audire uses Shazam, which in my tests is more accurate.

Byku hey mate, how do you get Stealth to work with the Reddit API changes?

[deleted] It's still working for me. Reddit blocks a lot of VPN addresses, so maybe you can't connect because of a VPN. Can you access reddit in the browser?

fid02 Agreed, OpenTracks is great for running/cycling/hiking etc., I can't see adapting it for much else.

I use GymRoutines as an open source tracker for weightlifting. It's worth checking out if you need something for weight training. I'm in the process of switching over to Graphene - I just installed GymRoutines today, and it appears to work. I've used it without issue for many months on my previous phone.

https://f-droid.org/en/packages/org.y20k.stayput/ >Stay Put is an app that helps prevent casual theft of your device while charging in public spaces. The app was created to solve a common problem: charging your phone in public spaces while traveling or camping. When you need to leave your phone unattended at a public charging spot, Stay Put acts as your guard. It sounds a loud alarm if someone unplugs your device, deterring potential theft.

Transportr - a functional, beautifully designed app for planning trips with public transport which supports:

    • Routing & Directions
    • Live Departures
    • maps (JawgMaps / Open Street Maps)

https://github.com/Myzel394/Alibi Use your phone as a dashcam and save the last 30 minutes when you need them.

Alibi keeps recording audio/video in the background and saves the last 30 minutes at your request. Everything is completely configurable. No internet connection required.

horde what is the use for this? Why only last 30min? Just curious.

Clark search what a dashcam is and its usefulness.

horde Probably intended for secret filming

As an avid hiker, I'd recommend Trail Sense. It's a bit of a Swiss army knife that contains all sorts of useful tools and works completely offline, only leveraging phone sensors to do everything. The weather part of it is really interesting - it uses the pressure sensor in the phone to make short term predictions of rain & storms.

wagg3r +1 for this, it even has a 'metal detector' (only magnetic metals), given your phone has a magnetometer sensor.

Not sure about this but i think pixel 8 and up have these.

WallYou - Privacy focused wallpaper app with many sources to choose from. I like it.

            For Chess players, Lichess
Their new application released in 2024. Opensource, free, no ads, no trackers (except a crash reporting), community founded. To play online, offline, puzzles etc etc.
            On the Play Store
            Github
With this app, really no point to use their big commercial concurrent with their mobile app full of profiling, analytics, advertisement, FB integration, with no clear added value.
