"Force Stop App" stopped working on P6a after last GOS update

"Force Stop App" stopped working after last update. App still works on Stock OS. Was some permission removed?

Can you provide more details? Is it one app that won't stop, or no apps stop? How is it determined that the app didn't stop?

mrtoo The app is based on an awful hack and doesn't work properly with the new Compose-based settings on Android. You should use the OS provided restricted battery mode rather than these kinds of apps.

de0u The app runs as normal first prompting for Accessibility permissions. I grant permission, then after hitting the boost button, the app attempts to stop all the selected apps. But no apps are stopped. I can verify apps are stopped by settings/apps. Then I hit the app's exit button, and the "Force Stop App" is unable to exist itself as it has in the past.

Can you be more specific about "last GOS update"? Depending on what channel you are on, you could be on one of several different updates.

How to find the build number - Settings > About phone > Build number.
Knowing how to find this will make getting help easier next time.

Android was designed to work with a fairly full memory. Doing so kept apps at the ready to open faster.
If apps are closed frequently they will drain more battery by opening more often.
Well, that how it was several years ago. Perhaps things have changed.

GrapheneOS The OS does not provide any batch method. Like I said earlier, the app worked fine up until a week or so ago. There was no change to the app, so just curious what changed with the OS and if there is a way to correct.

I could have done that, but the phone updated from the time you asked and the time I replied. I also know now to provide that info up front.
I know there are some apps I have that heat the phone and drain battery. Using Force Stop App has prevented that. I was getting 2 and sometimes three days between charges. Now I am back to 1-2 days.
