Do user profiles run in the background on startup?

If you set user profiles to run in background (notably for the notification forwarding feature), will they run in background on startup, or do you have to manually open each one before they run in the background?

Or is each profile in the BFU state before you login into them for the first time after each reboot, so they can't run in the background unless you tab into them once?

While I am on the topic of profiles starting in the background on reboot, does the automatic reboot timer get reset by logging in into either user profile?

Since its a reboot timer, then no. Timer starts on boot and only resets on new boot.

Exactly, that's how it works.

The owner profile is special, that's where system-wide OS data is stored. It therefore always has to run in the background and it's the first profile you have to login after reboot.

It's also worth noting that there's a limit to how many profiles can run at once. I don't remember what the number is exactly, but it's owner + 2 or 3 secondary profiles.

That's referring to the total number of profiles that GOS can have, I believe. The number of profiles that can run at the same time is a different thing, and I'm pretty sure the number is 3 (or 4) like @other8026 said.
