marrrtian NFC payments is the only thing lacking on GOS, and probably forever as it's due to bureaucratic and not technology reasons.
Sorry for going on a tangent. But there are financial institutions whose apps offer contactless payments (NFC payments) in their Android app and work on GOS. So you might want to research until you find one (or some) and become a customer of theirs. It might be a better option than wearing a new smart device on you just because you want the convenience of NFC payments.
You can do so by installing all the apps of all the banks you can think of (it might be a good idea to do so in a new profile), and going to settings, connected devices, connection preferences, NFC, contactless payments, default payment app, and you'll see a list of any app that supports contactless payments.
In my country there are at least 2. In the previous country I used to live in there was at least 1. In all cases I was already a customer of them, so I've never needed to install many banking apps to find which ones support contactless payments.
