Why is GrapheneOS making dozens of connectivity check??

I am checking my home firewall closer and found my phone making these dozens check.
Why for??
I know Linux distro has that which I have disabled but there is no reason for my phone to do such thing.
When I am connected to my home WireGuard, GrapheneOS doesn't like that either.
It feels like it is connected calling home or something all the time which again, there is absolutely no reasons to perform such activities.

How else will it know if it has a network connection? Connectivity checks are not odd and is intended behavior.

The device is checking bandwidth, not sending any information (other than your IP but that's just how the internet works. Same thing happens when it does a NTP sync.)

What does this have to do with auditor?

hakuna well, I turned connectivity checks off some time ago and my internet has been working just fine...

raccoondad My Linux desktop does not have such feature enabled and yet the internet works just fine wired/wireless. A Linux phone isn't any different on that context.
I guess I am missing something here

Desktop Linux and android are two different things, same kernel, different idea

GOS refers to it as a Linux distribution, but regardless it functions a lot differently than desktop Linux.

As Some1 said, why not disable connectivity checks?

That is what I am trying to find out, if there is a way to disable it and see what happens.
I confess I have not explored GrapheneOS settings to "restrict itself", never had reasons to.
I will have a look into the settings.

I searched for "connectivity" under settings.
The options is under Network & Internet > Internet connectivity checks

Firstly, phones and desktops are very different with respect to connectivity. Desktops are stationary, and typically only used on one network (once they're set up). Phones are mobile, and typically alternate between home wifi, cellular, and and any other wifi networks configured, so connectivity checks are important for most users. GrapheneOS describes the connectivity checks in the FAQ. Please read it. https://grapheneos.org/faq#default-connections

No query / data is sent to the servers and the response is unused beyond checking the response code.

GrapheneOS also adds the ability to fully disable the connectivity checks.

minxes0v I in fact think connectivity checks are not that important since in case of connection failure you either get a error message or connection is reinitialized.

Connectivity checks designed to mimic a web browser user agent are performed by using HTTP and HTTPS to fetch standard URLs generating an HTTP 204 status code. This is used to detect when internet connectivity is lost on a network, which triggers fallback to other available networks if possible. These checks are designed to detect and handle captive portals which substitute the expected empty 204 response with their own web page.
