I’ll be interested to hear the solution to this one.

Every single time I have had a password or pin rejected, it was because I was entering it wrong, no matter how stubbornly I insisted I wasn’t.

When I finally entered it correctly, everything worked, as if by magic.

Over the years, I've heard similar issues in our chat rooms, and in the end it was always a human error.

juddsan18 I have my phone set to restart once a day, and it always requires my PIN after a restart. After the latest restart, it won't accept my PIN. I have the PIN saved in my password manager and double-checked it (even though I've been typing the same PIN in to my phone for the past 6 months), and I'm using the correct PIN.

I'll look into this some more for you and will comment here if I find out more.

You may want to try sideloading the latest release, even if you're currently on the latest release. I remember doing that once on my 8a it is seemed to resolve an issue of my screen going black multiple times and not responding to touch or power buttons. I could also be wrong that side loading fixed it, but it might be worth trying.

Try dismissing the pin entry screen by locking the screen or using the back gesture and trying again after that?

For me happened the same 2 days ago.
First my phone with graphene (on pixel 7a) always tipped like five times the number 1 for example instead of once and by this is I must have put in the pin too many times.
However , even now it's not working and blocking be out for 24h until I can try again.
I am so sure to use the right pin, used it a lot each day since 3 months, have a PW messager , double checked it there.
Is their a problem reported from the keyboard so the numbers may be different that I enter?

I've had this same issue about a month ago.
I was sure I typed the correct PINcode, but the system returned a incorrect PIN message.

I finally had to do a factory reset... (Which gave me some issues as well, but not concerning the PINcode.)
I'm on a Pixel 9.

I inputted my 14 digit pin, correctly twice, so I thought and was refused unlocking of my phone and given a third attempt. This time instead of quickly using my thumbs as normal, I used another finger from my non dominant hand, and inputted it slowly, hey presto I was in. I realised my pin was so familiar to me and my way of typing, when I was inputting it so fast, I was not even thinking about what to type. I then scrambled the pin pad layout, and I have to date, no incorrect pin inputs. Maybe this simple adaption can help.

I've just had the same issue today on my pixel 9a. I'm sure I entered the correct PIN as, I'm ashamed to admit, it was the same for all 4 profiles I had and it worked fine for one profile but failed in the owner and another of my profiles.

Not sure if it plays a role but most of my profiles had a scrambled keyboard for entering the PIN.

Additionally, today was the first time I connected to my laptop using USB cable to transfer files and I don't quite remember but I may have switched profiles while connected to the laptop and I surely removed the USB cable without "dismounting" the device on my laptop nor without disabling USB data transfer on the phone.

I have noted down my pin and recently my 8a kept asking for the pin without accepting it more frequently, but usually I could overcome this by disabling the screen and then using my fingerprint on the next attempt instead. But after reloading my battery I can't access the OS any more at all. I did several reboots now an have no chance to unlock the device. I guess I will need to do a fresh setup too. :(

How do you reset the mobile when you can not enable OEM unlocking because you can't access the OS? ... I am so very stupid: Due to my dyslexia I obviously constantly typed the numbers of my pin in the wrong order despite directly reading it from my note!
