Hello,
It has been noted in a number of other threads discussing Android Auto, that the installation source of a given app may have an impact on its ability to be displayed and fully functional, much less detected at all. This is the case even if "unknown sources" is selected under Android Auto dev options.
For example, Magic Earth maps does not work unless it is installed via the Google Play Store. If installed via Aurora, it will open in Android Auto but shows "No new messages during this drive" within the app on the head unit. Other apps like Here we go maps don't even display on the headunit at all.
But VLC does work, even if installed from Aurora.
Within this thread: https://discuss.grapheneos.org/d/10218-i-contacted-magic-earth-regarding-android-auto
The "King Installer" is suggested by the devs of Magic Earth as a way to solve this problem.

King Installer's purpose is to spoof the installation source of an app to show Google Play.
Unfortunately, since Android 14, King Installer no longer works.

Would it be possible to implement within GrapheneOS a toggle/option when installing an app that spoofs the installation source to that of Google Play? Similar to the "Allow network connections" toggle if available when installing apps with that permission. This would allow for full use of Anndroid Auto without needing a gmail account just to install some apps directly from Google Play.
Thank you
