That's what it's all about!
1% energy consumption within 20 to 30 minutes for doing absolutely nothing! This is insane!
Especially since it only affects the newer Pixel 8 (Pro) and not the predecessor model Pixel 7 (Pro) with the same size battery!
But thanks to the newest GOS version build no. UQ1A.240105.004.2024012600 which no longer needs to install sandboxed Google Play Services for eSIM support I could easily switch off one of the two eSIMs as a test and after one warm boot waiting a while and check the consumption again…
Conclusion: Consumption in idle mode is now very okay: the battery only lost one 1% energy after almost 1:30 hours!
So I guess I've found the power guzzler: Dual eSIM consumes much more energy than expected! At least in the current Android 14 version.
I hope that this can be optimised in the software.
P. S.: My Pixel 7 Pro does not support Dual eSIM, for whatever reason. Supposedly, every Pixel phone from Pixel 6 onwards can support dual eSIM (depending on the provider, of course), but although my provider Telefónica Germany supports it, dual eSIM only works on my Pixel 8 Pro.
