Obtainium: {apk-arm-v8a-release.apk} vs {apk-arm-v8a-fdroid-release.apk}

I use Obtainium to update a number of apps. Obtainium updated itself silently until now.
With the latest update, there is a pop up and I have to choose between:

apk-arm-v8a-release.apk
apk-arm-v8a-fdroid-release.apk

I am not sure, but I think the initial version I installed was version 1. from Github, so without '-fdroid-'
What would be the differences between the two packages?
What could happen if I were to make the 'wrong' choice?
I am afraid I will remain an Android noob for quite some time to come.

Johannes It's hard to say what the difference actually is without knowing which app you're talking about. It's possible the non-F-Droid version has proprietary code or libraries in it, like, for example, a library for notifications.

I'd suggest you check the repository for the app to get an idea of what the differences might be and you can install whichever one works best for you.

@other8026 he talks about Obtainium itself which got a fdroid build flavor apk file added to Actions (CI) and the Release attachments in the latest version (0.16.0-beta).

@Johannes if you update Obtainium through itself, use the non-fdroid variant.
