  • Hello,

I've been reading articles from androidauthority & androidpolice saying that android 15 will make it harder to sideload apps - some apps might even force you to download google play if they use google's integrity API, which can be an issue.

I used to have a phone with GOS installed that had modded apps such as Instagram, YT & Twitter with tracking and ads removed (my threat model isn't hardcore, I just want my cake and eat it too i guess you could say), would this become a problem in the future with android 15 or is/would there a be a way to get around the integrity API with these kinds of modded apps? Im guessing FOSS apps wont be implementing this so I could just install them for their github using Obtanium or other alternatives, i'm just more thinking about proprietary apps that I want/need.

Would like some feedback from people as I'm not fully aware of this change + I know theres people a lot smarter than me on this forum :)

  • apparently my IMEI is blacklisted for no apparent reason... what do I do from here?

    • de0u replied to this.
    • other8026 I've tried that mulitple times, did not work.

Also tried resetting APN settings to default, did not work either.

    • I get a notification saying "Sim 1 not allowed" for literally a split second before it disappears.

When I was abroad I had to pop out my simcard for a local one and while I also had an eSim (the eSim I have removed since its of no use now) could this possibly be why?

    • bookreader Yeah but i turned it back on when I landed.

I have both mobile data and roaming on, but it still doesn't work

    • hey, for the past few days after since ive come back from travelling ive had no connection/data on my GOS device - when I change my sim card to my old iPhone it works perfectly fine. Whats weird is that when I try to put in another sim card (that also works on another iPhone) it does not give me any connections at all on my pixel.
ive had several calls with my phone company too so everything should be fine there. Ive tried restarting & resetting network settings, resetting APN settings to default several times with no success

My theory is the latest update somehow broke/interferred with my simcard data somehow, since it works fine for my entire family on iPhones.

      Phone: Pixel 8
      GOS ver: 2024040900

      • Grkrz Can you explain further? I dont quite understand your issue.

      • lbschenkel

Thanks, i was thinking it was an app issue too since there were a lot of negative reviews the past week with the exact same issue that I had. Pretty insane that this is the case tho...

      • MitID has seemed to stop working for me (asks me to scan a QR code when its a login on my phone)
        Im on:
        Pixel 8
GOS Ver: UQ1A.240105.004.2024012600 (latest as of 1 feb 2024)
MitID Ver: 3.2.3 (latest as of 1 feb 2024)
Ive tried logging in with brave, chrome and vanadium which all gives me the same results.

I see that GOS ver 2024011600 works, but i dont know how to roll back to that version - if someone could tell me, that would (hopefully) fix my problem.

        • AFAIK Vipps/MobilePay don't/wont make any "major" changes as they're currently merging (me & aguyfromdenamrk on github emailed them and got that answer)

Only current workarounds is the one I found (that apparently does not work anymore? post 9 in this thread) or just uninstalling Vanadium, installing brave or chrome then registering on MobilePay.

And yes, its 100% an issue with MobilePay/Vipps' implementation of MitID that is to blame here. I have 7+ other MitID apps that did not require me to download and older version to be able to login with MitID.

Luckily once you've registered on MobilePay you can always go back to Vanadium and, for now, not worry about future updates to the app.

        • sup3rior "I'm wondering if it's some of the hardening features of Vanadium that's causing it to not be able to progress."

it sort of is, but its MobilePay blocking these things for no reason, even tho they dont give additional security to the MobilePay app (https://github.com/GrapheneOS/Vanadium/issues/421)

I suggest you write a long email to them, since you wont be able to get the app working now as there is no fix. (AFAIK)

          • SOLUTION AS OF 16/12/2023: Download version 5.26.0 of mobilepay (I used aptoide to do so), have chrome or brave installed & set as standard webbrowser, then login as before. MitID will work and you can login and update MobilePay to the latest version using aurora store or play store, if you want.

If you try to do this using a newer version (5.27 or above) it simply wont work since vanadium (I assume) doesnt give all the info that MitID wants/needs so it will just throw you an error every single time you try to login. and for whatever reason, you cannot change custom tabs in mobilepay, it will just keep using vanadium (at least in my experience)

            • sup3rior did you manage to fix the issue? ive tried downloading chrome and brave, nothing worked

            • Hey, for some reason I cannot get MobilePay to work at all. Apps that used to be tricky/annoying like MitID, eBoks, Scandinavian banks etc. work perfectly fine, but when I try to login with my MitID on MobilePay it either gives me this error: "Teknisk fejl, prøv igen senere" or is just stuck on MitID OTP screen

I've tried logging in using my iPhone, that gave me an error. i've tried enabling exploit protection comp mode, didnt work either + tried installing chrome and brave, unfortunately didnt work either. The weird thing was it was still on vanadium even tho I had made chrome and or brave my standard browser, which is why I think it has something to do with vanadium (also gave vanadium access to thirdparty cookies and javascript). another person posted on this thread three days ago as well, but the thread got closed.

Its my second day on GOS and MobilePay is a pretty vital app for me, so it would be nice with a solution.

Im using a pixel 8 and as of 15th of december 2023, the latest GOS version.
