[deleted] No, the case is that I'm using GOS. I'm downloading apps from GitHub. I have the same number of apps as you have.
But I want to make ear training (music skills) and there is no app for this you can get on github. So I thought that I could download an open-source ear training app - on my uncle's device or so - from PlayStore.
But I'm not sure if that's a good idea
Hi everyone. I wonder about a specific case:
If I want to use an app on my phone running GOS. But that app is only available at F-Droid or PlayStore. Could I download the app on another device running e.g. stock Samsung android and then move it to my phone? The app doesn't require neither internet access nor updates. It would run in a separate user.
Is it possible that the app is working if I do it like that? Or is there any other (maybe better) way to use it on my phone?
I'm searching for a paid-free VPN. Is there any you would recommend?
I heard that Proton-VPN should be a good choice...
Thanks for helping!
MetropleX If you have since visited our live support on [Matrix] and have resolved the problem please let me know so I can mark the issue solved.
Hi, so I managed to flash GOS and boot it. But I don't exactly know how I solved the problem so I'll just tell everything I did:
After I rebooted into the Bootloader I charged the device until I thought the battery would be full. Then I powered off over the volume buttons and the phone lay two or three days untouched in its case.
After that time I started it and tried to flash it over the web installer through the huawai (which afaik was the only device with recognized mine) again. I checked if the huawai had more than 32GB free space - it had. This time, the Download of the image wasn't downloaded anymore. So, I downloaded a new one. That worked really well. Then I started the flashing process. Everything went fine and I didn't have to do anything analog (like bringing the device back into Bootloader after "Writing vendor_boot"). The flashing process finished. Then I unlocked the bootloader and booted into GOS.
Everything went on perfectly then. But there are still questions that aren't answered:
Why wasn't my phone recognized by other devices than the huawai?
Why did I get the error message? Because the huawai had enough space all the time.I have verified my device with the Auditor app. The result is an orange backround. As far as I know, it has to be green. What is the problem with my device?
And what should I do?
But I get that it's better to handle this topic in the matrix chatroom. I will make a matrix acc in the next days.
Sorry, I messed something up.
Other devices are working fine per usb on my (alredy set) Pixel and Laptop. The new not working pixel isn't shown in the browser like vanadium. So i cant do anything with that.
The only device that show the new pixel in the chrome browser is the stock huawai android, witch i used for the first flashig.matchboxbananasynergy Faulty ports, most likely.
If you mean usb ports: is it also likely if I connect two Pixel 6as with the stock cable?
matchboxbananasynergy That means the device you're using to flash doesn't have enough storage (at least 32GB), or you're using the browser in incognito mode.
Good to know. I just have two questions about it:
Why do other devices not recognize my phone?
Why do I need so much storage for flashing?

Thank you for your help. I will have a look at the alternative you mentioned.Osprey matchboxbananasynergy MetropleX
How can it be that I have similar problems but my Pixel 6a is only recognized by one device (a stock huawai android)?
During first flashing I had some big trouble and couldn't continue. I tried flashing it through other ways and devices. Another 6a through Vanadium didn't recognize mine, and through Chromium on Linux either not.
Through commandline the flashing didn't work but I also didn't get any error-message
After first not successfull flashing my phone did also show:
Your device is corrupt. It can't be trusted and may not work properly
Then I tried to flash it again through the device I used for the first time and also got:
Error: The requested file could not be read, typically due to permission problems that have occurred after a reference to a file was acquired.
But I couldn't re-flash successfully.

Thanks good to know. That's how I use it already.matchboxbananasynergy What I personally dislike about VLC on Android is that it requests a highly invasive storage permission to access all of your files.
It's the same for me. Do you know if it's similar an Linux for example? And generally, could you recommend a VLC alternative?

Thank you for your fast and detailed answer. I'll read through.I'm wondering if it's possible to get NoScript as an add-on on vanadium? And if yes, is it recommendable do add it?
I wonder how the security on consuming media depends on streaming or downloading.
Is it better (meaning more secure) to always stream data like over Invidious for example? Or is it more secure to download e.g. the video/picture/... ?
Is it better to take a screenshot from a photo I found at duckduckgo search or is better to download and save it?or is there a better alternative?
surfwatch thanks. :)
matchboxbananasynergy is it possible to disable JIT in Brave or other browsers?
I had some big trouble flashing my Pixel 6a. Lately I'm stuck in bootloader and can't finish the flashing process.
Can I reset my phone completely? And if yes, how do I do that?
Thanks for your help!
