For anyone who encounter the issue it's needed to install the "google" app for the setup. Just installed without network permission and added nearby devices rights.
You have to allow shortly network access at the Google assist point to proceed and can revoke it direct afterwards.
After the setup I removed nearby again and deactivated the app.
All works fine so far.

Not happy about it but looks like a must.

Hope it helps anyone who has issues and search for it here.

Relaks did not test it before as i use passkeys now (if supported). You are right it also get into an error. Somehow I managed to get the prompt once while playing around with google services but couldn't reproduce it.

GoldenDuck1 indeed, at least with enpass passkeys work only with active Google play service!
However i striped all permission from it and have no other google service active where it could steal permissions from and passkeys still work

Relaks I activated that flag + 3 party, at least in Google I can choose about password + yubikey or use passkey. Can talk much about other websites but it's definitely supported in the is.

I did this indeed today as I wanted to work around it and transfer the watch from another phone instead of set it up on my grapheneos device.
It did an update (which makes the setup way faster).
However even with the transfer the first screen is to accept the extra TOS. It also close with the accept button and the transfer ends with the same message 'something went wrong please reset'. In the end you have to accept the TOS step on your device which close/crash the app and let the process fail (even when it's successful linked).

I can't see a way to get it working right now.

I use Enpass right now with passkeys and have no issues.

Anyone else experience the issue?
Pixel 7 with the latest stable graphenos.

The app close/crash on the second TOS short before the finish.
Because of that it can not finish the installation and you can only reset it (linking is done at that point)
