Just saw it on the news. Get ready to lose WhatsApp and Signal if you use iphone. Easy to get around with Android.

From looking at the Ghost Bsd hardware compatibility list, it looks like early 2018 Mackbook Pros are supported. Maybe worth taking a look?
- In Why Privacy?
Instead of trying to convince people to care about their privacy, I recently changed tactics. You see, to the majority of people online privacy gives them no value, therefore you have to give them something that does give them value.
In this case, the ability to to watch YouTube with no ads. After showing them how to install Brave, the joy on their faces when they watch their first ad free video is noticeable. Of course, that's after they have gotten past the "trauma" of having to do something as simple as installing a different browser :) I don’t see how the Uk Government could force people to use smartphones. Looks like another attempt by a Labour Government to introduce national id’s.

I never thought about the vendor stores themselves. Makes total sense.- Edited

I haven’t travelled there with a Pixel, but when I was there with my iphone I had to furnish my Passport to register the sim. There is Wifi everywhere but it doesn’t solve your text requirement.
You could look into international sims or see if Verizon has an international package. If you are okay with the i.d. requirement, don’t buy a sim at the airport. It’s cheaper from a 7/11 in the city.Rizzler
YouTube is good for a laugh, you’ve really got to pick through a lot of chaff. The Hated One’s videos can be quite humorous.Rizzler
I didn’t realize the Pixel warranty would be intact. Good to know. There are so many of these YouTube guys out there now giving bad advice, and conflicting with each other on the privacy scene.- Edited

I’m not sure about the Pixel warranty but in order to unlock the bootloader on a Motorola you have to request an unlock code at their site, where you are presented with a big warning that it does void the warranty.I currently still run an iphone alongside my Graphene Pixel. With the latest update, Apple has introduced a Passwords App. Going into it under wifi passwords, was interesting. Networks I couldn’t even remember connecting to showed up and I hit the forget network option. All that’s left is 4 managed networks, they cannot be forgotten and there is no way to remove them. I can only assume that my mobile provider has installed them. Most annoying.
Anyone noticed this as well?de0u
Good point.- Edited

That’s interesting. I would imagine the same happens on ios then. Sort of makes you wonder if it’s worth running these secure messenger apps on a proprietary platform. Or of course running them on Graphene if at the end of the day you are talking to someone on one of the main platforms.- Edited

You say that on Google’s OS, the Play ecosystem apps have elevated privileges to access the internal data of normal apps. Surely they can’t read your encrypted messages on Signal, Whatsapp etc.?This thread somewhat veered off topic which I think was possibly my fault. I still stand by using whatever the majority of your contacts use. Which means when I go to Thailand next year I will be using Line.

You can’t expect over 99% of the population to care, they simply don’t.Aeon
Yep, here it’s all Whatsapp. It’s a general apathy about privacy in general with this population. Honestly, they really don’t care. I’ve given up.Xarcell
It’s whatever chat application the majority of your contacts use. I had Signal on my phone for 2 years. Nobody on there.I could probably get rid of WhatsApp if this RCS thing eventually works properly.
PaulDavis I do Remember having the green classic Amex card. That gave you two extra years on top of the one year warranty.
