  • trilogy6202 yes those tabs don't exist when the camera is called within another app to scan QR codes.

    • ZapZen Thank you! Any recommendations on the overall issue? Those use cases where just examples.
In general I can scan QR codes with the camera app as there is a special mode for it. Just seems when external applications open the scan dialogue - this mode is not available.

      • raccoondad Sorry, didn't see your reply. I wouldn't login with my Google account but a fake account. The extra SIM card would just be because you need a phone number to create an account

        • Hi,

I am struggling with scanning QR codes in GraphenOS. 2 examples.

          • To login to my 1Password account I can scan a QR code from an authenticated device. When I open this feature in in 1Password on GrapheneOS the camera starts. I point it at the QR code. Nothing happens.
          • Another one: Importing 2FA-Codes into Aegis, again pointing the GrapheneOS camera in this case to my iPhone screen. Nothing happens.

Coming from iOS I'm used to iOS either just taking the picture when a QR code is detected or showing a label I can click on.

Any recommendations on how to make this work?

          Thanks

          • Hi,

I've a question on using Google Play Store and services on GrapheneOS but let me first say: I'm not a high risk user. I'm really interested in understanding GrapheneOS and playing with it to understand it. Currently I'm running a GraphenOS phone with an addtional SIM card next to my iPhone (same phone number).

I understand that for being super safe I'd probably need a fake google account to login to the Google Play Store to install apps. Now I don't wanna do that but was wondering if getting another SIM card with an additional phone number (where I live this only works by authenticating yourself) just to create a new Google profile (SMS) and to use that to install the App Store and push apps to other user profiles. After that switching back to my regular SIM card (phone number). Goal being google not connecting my GraphenOS activity to my regular Google account.

I don't need GMAIL etc. on GraphenOS. it's just for installing apps from Play Store and running some (banking apps) that might need Google Services. Only Google Service I need is Google Maps bot don't need to be loggedin.

I'm a newbie trying please let me know if this is pointless. Would I get the same outcome by using my regular Google Account on the owner profile. Installing Apps and then pushing them to a "daily profile"? Or would Google on the new profile still use my account?

            Thx
            Alfred

            • Hi,

I'm new to Graphene. I found the following video helpful but have a remaining question:
              https://youtu.be/IAoCfrqxIEg?si=ryaYd1KdByVfbf8I

What are the up- and downsides of installing Google services and playstore in the main profile + using the main profile only for installing and pushing apps to other profiles (as shown in this video) vs. having the main profile google free and having a dedicated profil for when in need of Google services?

              Appreciate your help!
